We’re passionate about Reptiles!

Our mission is simple:
Make reptile keeping enjoyable, responsible, and accessible for everyone, from total beginners to long-time enthusiasts.
We’re here to offer real advice, share our experience, and point you in the right direction so your animals stay healthy and thrive. No guesswork, no confusing jargon just honest guidance from people who love what they do.

Our Community
The health, comfort, and wellbeing of our animals guide every decision we make. We house our reptiles in clean, species-appropriate setups and make sure they’re cared for by experienced keepers who know their personalities, quirks, and needs. We’ll never recommend products, care routines, or setups we wouldn’t confidently use ourselves.
We’re reptile experts, but we’re also real people who understand how confusing the hobby can feel at first. That’s why we keep things simple, honest, and judgement-free. Whether you’re asking a quick question or planning a full setup, we’ll explain things clearly and help you choose what’s right for your pet, not what’s most expensive.
Buying a reptile is just the beginning. We stay by your side long after you leave the shop with services like boarding, claw-trimming, sexing, health checks, setup advice, and ongoing care support. Got a question weeks or even years down the line? Come in or message us, we’re always here to help.
Smith’s Reptiles has become a place where keepers of all levels can connect, learn, share, and get excited about the animals they love. We’re more than a shop, we’re a friendly hub for reptile enthusiasts, families, first-timers, and lifelong keepers. Everyone is welcome, and everyone plays a part in growing a positive, supportive reptile community.
Jon aka Dinosaur Man
Manager
Jon has been keeping reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates for 30 years and has 20+ years of industry experience. He’s successfully bred over 30 species and brings boundless energy and expertise to the shop.
When he’s not helping customers or caring for animals, he’s adding to his massive dinosaur model collection.
Lola
Sales Assistant
Lola has been keeping reptiles for 7 years and is training to become an exotic veterinary nurse. She also holds a Level 3 Diploma in Animal Management, so she knows her stuff when it comes to animal care.
When she’s not helping customers or working with reptiles, Lola wows everyone with her acrobat skills.
George aka Backwards Hat Man
Sales Assistant
George has a real passion for invertebrates, with a particular love for praying mantises. One day, he hopes to add a velvet worm to his collection, because why not?
When he’s not caring for critters at the shop, George channels his creativity into short films, two of which have been submitted for awards.
Sam
Sales Assistant
Sam has been obsessed with reptiles and Steve Irwin since childhood, landing her first job in a reptile shop at just 16. Since then, she’s kept snakes, geckos, frogs, and lizards, because, really, who wouldn’t want to learn about living dinosaurs?
When he’s not wrangling reptiles, Sam is a singer, songwriter, and musician in a band too!
William aka Will
Sales Assistant
William, has been keeping reptiles, frogs, and invertebrates for around 10 years. He loves sharing his knowledge and helping customers get their setups just right.
Outside the shop, William rocks out in a gigging punk/rock band proving he can handle both rambunctious reptiles and loud guitars with equal style.
Meet Buck, Our Rhinoceros Iguana & Shop Legend
If you’ve ever visited Smith’s Reptiles, you’ve probably already met Buck, our Rhinoceros Iguana and unofficial shop mascot.
He spends his days supervising from his enclosure, watching everyone with that classic “I know what you’re up to” iguana stare.
Buck isn’t just a shop favourite — he’s part of the family, a brilliant ambassador for his species, and a daily reminder of why we love working with reptiles.
